This handmade sterling silver abalone shell pendant necklace features high-grade Paua shell, a premium variety of abalone known for its vivid natural iridescence and exceptional color play. The shell shifts beautifully through metallic blue, teal, green, pink, and silver tones, creating a pendant that catches the light from every angle while showcasing the natural patterns formed within the shell.

The pendant centers around a rectangular Paua shell cabochon measuring approximately 15 x 8 mm, carefully set in sterling silver and suspended beneath an organically shaped textured silver disc. This upper accent was created using a metalsmithing technique known as reticulation, in which sterling silver is heated to create naturally rippled textures and organic surface patterns. Because the texture develops through the movement of the metal itself, no two reticulated surfaces are ever exactly alike, making each piece subtly unique. The result is a handcrafted detail that complements the flowing movement and color variations found within the shell itself.

The shell portion of the pendant measures approximately 22 x 13 mm overall, while the complete pendant, including the bail, hangs approximately 1.7 (43.18mm) inches long. It is suspended from a sturdy 20.75-inch sterling silver oval rolo chain with small links, finished with a secure lobster clasp and oversized closure ring for easy everyday wear.
