Mexican Cantera Opal Sterling Silver Ring

A one-of-a-kind sterling silver ring featuring a beautifully polished genuine Mexican Cantera opal in vivid red matrix, alive with flashes of green, yellow, orange, and red that shift in the light. The stone measures approximately 19mm x 9mm and weighs 4.59 carats including the natural matrix, giving the ring both striking color and an unusual, earthy character.

The bezel was hand-fabricated to frame the stone with contrast in mind: the upper edge remains bright silver to highlight the opal’s fire, while subtle oxidation toward the back connects visually with the darker tones of the band and the rich reddish matrix of the stone.

The shank is entirely made from recycled sterling silver and shaped by hand into a softly wavy, organic, slightly asymmetrical form. It is decorated with fused silver details and finished with an even oxidation across the exterior, bringing out the texture and giving the ring more depth and character. The inside of the band shows some darker areas and slight irregularities from the fabrication process—honest traces of the reclaimed silver and the handmade nature of the piece.

Substantial and sculptural, the band tapers slightly as it approaches the bezel and measures approximately 8–9mm wide through most of the shank, giving the ring a bold presence while still feeling wearable. This is a ring for someone drawn to unusual stones, strong natural color, and jewelry that feels completely individual.
